Itololo Novitiate
This is the third-stage house of formation after Arusha Philosophicum House. The house is located in Dodoma Region, Kondoa District – about 60 kilometers from Kondoa town.
The house receives the candidates who have finished their philosophical studies and some other forms of catechetical, technical and college/university studies, who are aspiring to become Passionist religious brothers or priests, but who have finished their duration of Postulancy stage. Currently the house receives candidates from Tanzania and MATAF (Passionists in Southern Africa).
The purpose of their stay in this house is primarily formation in the Passionist life. The novitiate introduces the candidates into the Congregation. This stage is fundamental for all Passionist life. It cannot be repeated. It is a special year to enable the novice to understand and experience further the Passionist way of life and to discern more deeply his call. On the other hand, it is the time also for the Congregation to know the candidate even better and to evaluate one’s goodwill and particular gifts, but especially their call to Passionist religious life.
The candidates residing in this house are of the level of formation known as “Novices”
For Canonical validity, the novitiate must comprise twelve months spent in the novitiate community (CJC 648). After the period of novitiate, the candidates who have been accepted for temporal vows will profess their simple vows.
The Novice Master is Rev. Fr. Francesco Breda C.P., who is assisted by Rev. Fr. Marcel Tarimo C.P. as the bursar.
